We are delighted to announce that Cantor Audrey Klein has started this week in her role as Beth Tzedec’s Director of Family and Young Adult Engagement.
Cantor Klein is responsible for overseeing family programming and serving as the spiritual and administrative leader in this area. In her new role, she is developing personal relationships with a community of more than 800 households of adults 25 to 40 years old and their families. Cantor Klein aims to inspire and guide this next generation of Beth Tzedec members to live meaningful Jewish lives. Her family joined Beth Tzedec through the Generations Membership and she understands firsthand how our congregation can appeal to young families.
Carrying a deep appreciation for the link between family, community, and spirituality, Cantor Klein has dedicated her life to sharing joyful connections. Her career includes experience at two prominent Toronto synagogues, Temple Emanu-El and Temple Sinai. She currently sits on the Executive Board of the Women Cantors’ Network and co-chaired their annual conference in 2018.
Hailing originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Cantor Klein graduated with a degree in Theatre from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She receieved her cantorial ordination and master’s degree in Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Newton, MA. Cantor Klein resides in midtown Toronto with her husband Dr. Joshua Albert, a native Torontonian, daughter Nora, and dog Joni.
This appointment is part of our ongoing strategic hiring initiative, which aims to support the successful implementation of the Generations Membership. We received far more new members than we could have expected when we implemented Gen Mem, and now we need to engage with our new members to make sure that growth is sustained. As the Director of Family and Young Adult Engagement, Cantor Klein plays a vital role in outreach, ensuring that new members are brought into the fold and given a deeper connection to their Jewish journey through Beth Tzedec. With young families increasingly moving to the area, now is the time to grow our team and better serve this growing segment of our Congregation.
