When we travel through the world;
let us stop in synagogues and other sacred spaces.
When we stay close to home or city;
let us enjoy the time we have with family and friends.
Hayom. Today we are here.
On this sacred day and on many Shabbat evenings throughout the year, let us bring blessing to others.
May God bless us with humility,
and with a hunger for grandeur.
May God dazzle us with sudden light,
and illumine the faces of others with the soft glow of love.
May God turn to us in grand sanctuaries,
and find us in the intimate spaces of our private lives.
May we find the Holy One in the majesty of the mountains,
and the humdrum quiet of our homes.
May we be inspired by the rituals and traditions of our people,
and find new paths for our spirit and soul.
Hayom and throughout the New Year,
may you and I be blessed
with the Presence of God and the touch of those we love.
Ken Yehee Ratzon. May this be God’s will and ours.
Inspired by the words of Rabbi Jacob Pressman.
