Beth Tzedec continues to honour its tradition of being the Music Synagogue of Toronto.
From the grandeur of our musical High Holy Days services—with incomparable H̱azzan Moshe Fishel, the internationally-renowned conductor Mein Briskman and the Lishmoa El Harina Ensemble—to our monthly Friday evening Shabbat at the Floor Services with Cantor Sidney Ezer, artist-in-residence Aviva Chernick and Yacov Fruchter and our bi-weekly Shabbat morning Musical Participatory Services with the HarmonEzers, we continue to lift our voices in song and celebration.
October 7, November 11 & 25 and December 9
Join us at Beth Tzedec or via livestream for this musical Shabbat morning service led by Cantor Sidney Ezer, Asher Farber and the HarmonEzers, our small, vocal ensemble.
Lift your soul in prayer as you sing with us or close your eyes in meditation and be carried away by the magnificent harmonic sounds of the service. We will introduce new melodies and revive older and familiar ones in a way that will get your toes tapping as Rabbi Steven Wernick and Rabbi Robyn Fryer Bodzin offer insights into our Torah reading, expertly chanted by Lorne Hanick. Come to be a part of our special musical and spiritual davening.
This service is live-streamed to the Beth Tzedec website at the time the service begins. To access the service livestream, visit https://bethtzedec.tv.
Join us for a musical Friday night service led by the Shabbat at the Floor team together with special guest Galeet Dardashti, vocalist, composer, anthropologist and culture creator, as we celebrate Shabbat Shirah.
Following the Service, you are invited to register for one of our two Shabbat dinners celebrating Shabbat Shirah. We are pleased to offer a community Shabbat dinner as well as a 20s and 30s Shabbat dinner for our Generations members. Galeet will speak at both dinners during the evening.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the Service either in person or via livestream. To access the livestream, click HERE. The dinners are by pre-registration only.
Galeet Dardashti has earned a reputation as a trail-blazing performer, educator and advocate for Middle Eastern and North African Jewish culture. Throughout our Shabbat Shirah weekend celebrations, we will learn from Galeet, sign together and marvel in the presentation of the award-winning Saturday night concert eveent, Monajat.
