The Simchat Torah Project
Beth Tzedec
Sep 27th 2024

Beth Tzedec Congregation is proud to participate in the Simchat Torah Project, a global initiative that unites the Jewish world and honours and remembers all of those we lost on October 7, and the soldiers who lost their lives fighting for Israel.

In early September, Rabbi Fryer Bodzin flew to Israel to bring home a Torah mantle, one that is nearly identical to over 1000 Torah mantles that are now placed in communities and synagogues all over the world.

The front of the Torah mantles are all the same, but the backs are individualized. Each Torah mantle is in memory of someone who lost their life.

We will dedicate this new Torah mantle on Shemini Azeret at Yizkor, and we use it for the first time on Simchat Torah later that night.

We offer gratitude to our members Janice Goldberg and Stephen Nash for their generosity.
