As a congregational community, we at Beth Tzedec condemn the recent rocket attacks by Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip targeting innocent Israeli civilians. We support Israel’s right to defend itself at all times against terror and those who would do its people harm. And we note with concern the fragility of the moment and potential for escalation.
At this time, therefore, we pray for the well-being of the State of Israel and of the Israel Defense Forces and for a state of calm to be restored.
Many of us have family and friends in Israel. We know that this can be a frightening moment. That’s why your Spiritual Leadership team at Beth Tzedec welcomes your calls and visits for comfort and support. As a community, we stand in solidarity with each other and with the State of Israel and its citizens.
L’shalom,
Rabbi Steve Wernick
