On Sunday, April 23, our own Rabbi Steven Wernick will participate in a celebratory reading of Israel’s Declaration of Indpendence—Megillat Ha’atzmaut—at the Egalitarian Kotel. 

Every year between Yom HaShoah and Yom Ha'atzmaut, the World Zionist Organization holds a festive event of reading Megillat Ha'atzmaut at the Egalitarian Kotel. It is broadcast live in different languages to the whole Jewish world, their way of celebrating Israel’s independence and it strengthen our sense of Jewish peoplehood in Israel and abroad.

This event brings together Jews from all denominations and backgrounds, from Israel and around the world, ahead of Yom Ha'atzmaut to celebrate the Declaration as one of the preeminent Jewish documents of our time.
