Nov 14th 2024

Beth Tzedec is a Fragrance Free facility. Not everyone understands what this is all about. We are fortunate to have Dot Whitehouse sharing her experience on this subject matter. She spoke with Communications Manager Michael Goodbaum about the importance of maintaining a Fragrance Free Facility and to clarify some key points. For part two of this interview, CLICK HERE

What is the difference between unscented and fragrance-free?

”If something is ‘unscented’ it doesn’t mean that there isn’t fragrance used by the manufacturer to neutralize or block or eliminate a smell naturally occurring in the product’s components. Fragrance-free, unlike ‘unscented’, means no fragrance has been added whatsoever.”

Where can someone find fragrance-free products?

“They are available at Shoppers, Rexall, Loblaws, Sobeys, Longos, and other popular retailers. Every store will have some fragrance-free products. Just because something says it is ‘natural’, doesn’t mean it is fragrance-free or safe. Arsenic is also natural! Some people think if they buy products from the health food store, those will be better, but they could still have many fragrances inside like mint, rose, or others.”

What about a key source of fragrance that most people use, antiperspirants and deodorants?

“There are fragrance-free deodorants and antiperspirants that are name-brand that you can find in any pharmacy section. They’re even available on Amazon and other online retailers. It doesn’t have to cost more!”
