When the new ambassador of Israel to the United Kingdom, Tzipi Hotovely, presented her credentials to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in 2021, she was accompanied by her husband Or Alon.
While it was out of protocol, Or asked the Queen: "What is one piece of life advice you can give us in light of your rich experience?"
Or later shared, ''She thought about it, pondered and then said: 'If I had to give only one piece of advice, it would be to invest in human connections. There is nothing more important in life than connecting with other people, and I think the last year has made that very clear’.”
In support of our mission at Beth Tzedec of inspiring and enabling our community to live meaningful Jewish lives, we have six core values. In my role at Beth Tzedec, I often emphasize the value of connect. We want you to feel connected to the Synagogue, to the Divine, to our Spiritual Leadership and lay leaders, and we especially want you to build caring relationships with other members.
Over the last two years, BT Small Groups has been one of the most effective ways of creating new relationships, with 85% of participants sharing that belonging to a Small Group increased meaningful connections, and 75% reported decreasing a sense of isolation.
We are excited to launch our 3rd year, and registration is now open. We have 15 groups to choose form, and if you can't find something that matches your interests or needs, it is not too late to create more! Feel free to reach out to me at yfruchter@beth-tzeded.org
I wish you a Shanah Tovah and a year of sweetness and powerful connections!
