Each year we produce a wonderful booklet of prayer, poetry
and reflections for the Days of Awe. This booklet is designed to inspire and enlighten us during the High
Holy Days - adding to our Beth Tzedec Congregation experience.
This year we have chosen Sh’laymoot, well-being, as our theme. We understand sh’laymoot to be the sense of peace and contentment stemming from an individual's mental, emotional and physical health and their relationship with the values and beliefs that give their life purpose.
In an effort to fulfill our priority for engagement, participation, relevancy and building a caring community, we invite you to submit content for publication. We are looking for personal stories, essays, poems, music and visual arts (photography or drawing or painting) that you find meaningful on the theme of sh’laymoot and its six key virtues: Hochmah (wisdom), Ometz (courage), Ahava (love), Tzedek (justice), Rahamim (mercy) and Kedushah (transcendence).
Submissions need not be original, as long as we can easily obtain permission for publication.
Submissions should meet the following criteria:
· Essays and stories 500 words or fewer - submitted as a .doc or .docx file
· Poetry or prayers no longer than 40 lines, or one page – submitted as a .doc or .docx file
· Visual art in a portrait orientation - submitted as a high resolution JPEG (black and white preferred)
· Sheet music, no longer than 1 page – submitted as a high resolution JPEG or PDF
All submissions need to be emailed to Linda Marleny Dow, Manager of Marketing and Communications, at lmdow@beth-tzedec.org by end of business on Monday, June 10, 2019. (We are only able to consider content submitted by this deadline. Late submissions will not be considered).
Submitted content may be used throughout the year on Beth Tzedec’s website and social media accounts. Please email Linda Marleny Dow with any questions, comments, or concerns.
