Beth Tzedec Launches Our ChazaKits
Jan 6th 2025

Here’s a new way we’re making manifest the Beth Tzedec value of CARING–introducing ChazaKits!

Beth Tzedec is the place where we share our lives’ journeys–the ups and the downs. We’ll all go through them, no one’s immune. We’re introducing a way to help our friends and families get through the most intense and challenging times: a collective Beth Tzedec hug in the form of a box with a handle.

A quick breakdown of the name:

Chazak–(the ch is the Hebrew throat-clearing sound, not the English “ch”, so “khhhhah-ZAHK” is how it’s pronounced) is the Hebrew word for strength.

Kits–a collection of tools or implements for a certain purpose (not a young furry animal).

ChazaKits are loans of a collection of resources to help our Beth Tzedec families through intense episodes–good and bad–that are a part of everyone’s life. Each ChazaKit contains a note from our Spiritual Leadership Team, carefully curated children’s books on the topic, a journal, a beautiful jigsaw puzzle for families to do together, and other resources.

ChazaKits have been carefully curated around life events such as the birth of a sibling, divorce and separation, death of a loved one, when a loved one has a mental health challenge or disease, a newly blended family, or a major change in living arrangements.

Recipients can keep the ChazaKits for as long as they find them helpful and return them when they’re ready so other families can use them.

If you know of a family who could benefit from receiving a ChazaKit, just call the office at 416-781-3511 or send an email to any Beth Tzedec staff member (click here for a list of email addresses) telling them the family and the situation. We’ll get a ChazaKit to them. It’s that simple.
