HAPPY 70th ANNIVERSARY BETH TZEDEC CONGREGATION!
!כל הכבוד“A view of the past, a vision for the future,”
Beth Tzedec’s founders were bold, strategic visionaries, combining congregations of Beth Hamidrash Hagadol and Goel Tzedec and heading up Bathurst St. to the outskirts of the city. They built a new ‘modern’ home with an eye to the future.
In Hebrew, 70 is Ayin, עין, (the eye!), a significant number throughout our tradition: There are 70 sons of Abraham, 70 divine names, 70 names of the Jewish nation, 70 names of Jerusalem, 70 judges in the Sanhedrin. 70 marks a life full of wisdom and the promise of a vital future. It represents achievement as well as potential; it signals opportunity, completeness and leadership.
As we begin to celebrate Beth Tzedec's 70th year, may we merit to be all this, and more. We honour those founders and the generations through the decades who have supported us, as we acknowledge our commitment to the generations ahead.
A Message from the 70th Anniversary Committee Chairs
We are deeply honoured to co-chair the 70th anniversary celebrations for Beth Tzedec, commencing on Shabbat Shirah weekend (February 7 and 8) and culminating in December.
As our official anniversary on December 9 approaches, we eagerly anticipate unveiling a diverse program of events and opportunities for you to actively engage in and celebrate the enduring legacy of our esteemed synagogue. Following a period of significant challenges for the Jewish community, we are thrilled to unite and collectively reflect upon the remarkable milestones of our past while forging new memories to commemorate this momentous occasion.
We hope you will join us in at least one of the many opportunities to enjoy and reflect on the 70 incredible years of our kehillah.
