This Shabbat morning, November 3 at 11:15 a.m., members of the local Muslim community will form 'Rings of Peace' around Beth Tzedec Congregation and other synagogues in a show of interfaith solidarity following the attack of Jewish congregants in Pittsburgh last week.
The 'Rings of Peace' were inspired by Muslims in Oslo, Norway following attacks against Jewish communities in Copenhagen and Paris. In the winter of 2017, following an attack on Muslims at a prayer service in Quebec City, GTA congregants from Toronto's Jewish and Christian communities formed rings around area mosques as a show of peace and interfaith solidarity.
At the Congregational kiddush, we will be joined by our Muslim friends who will form the 'Ring of Peace' around our Synagogue.
