A chevruta (friend to friend) study group
“It is an Etz Hayim, a tree of life to those who hold fast to it…” – Book of Proverbs
Torah is a living, animating force—something that grows with you. At Beth Tzedec, we share lifelong opportunities for learning.
Whenever and however you’re ready to learn, we have robust opportunities for you to deepen and grow your understanding of Jewish thought and traditions. We share Torah, our teaching, both within our walls, and out in the community, either in person or online. Whether you’re exploring spirituality, seeking ethical insight, or simply curious, we’ll meet you where you are—with warmth and clarity.
Some of our 2026 Adult Learning Opportunities
Learn Talmud with Reb Steve: Monday evenings via Zoom. No previous experience is required.
Shabbat Nosh and Drash: On Shabbat, spend half an hour after kiddush looking in depth at an aspect of that morning’s Torah reading.
Torah Through the Ages: Join us on Thursday mornings at 10 am for a deep dive into the Book of Deuteronomy. Every word is scrutinized. The class is perfect for everyone, from the novice to the advanced student.
Body and Soul walking group: When the weather gets warm, we go take text outside. In this popular summer program, join us to learn some Torah, and then join new and old friends for a walk in Cedarvale or Forest Hill.
Chai-er Learning: a collaboration with The Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies at York University: Chai-er Learning featured six insightful presentations by leading academics from York University. The final speaker was Dr Rhonda Lenton, President Emerita of York University.
Second Annual Muskoka Scholar breakfast: If you summer in Muskoka, join one of our spiritual leaders to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends, learn some Torah outdoors, on July 19.
