Event Series: Tikkun Leyl Shavuot

TzedecTalks: Torah from Sinai to the Shtetl

May 21 @ 11:30 pm

Beth Tzedec’s Tikkun Leyl Shavuot brings the energy of TED-style talks to a night of Jewish learning and connection. The evening blends inspiring short talks, interactive table conversations and meaningful community engagement over dairy-filled nosh.

Session hosted by Daniel Silverman

The Ten Commandments were given long ago on Mount Sinai… What do they have to do with us today? Rabbi Lara and Alan Bernstein will share their top take-aways from the most important laws of the Torah.

The story of the entangled lives of Rabbi Yohanan and his student, colleague, best friend, chevruta, scholarly equal and brother-in-law, Resh Lakish, is a Talmudic story for the ages. Bruce Elman will share about the important lessons we can learn from their relationship.

In her talk, Penina Hoffnung, Family Engagement Specialist here at Beth Tzedec, will share her take on the most well-proven method to catapult the Jewish future. Hint: It’s not the what, but the who. And the “who” may surprise you! Penina offers this teaching in honour of her three sisters, and particularly in memory of her sister Sue.
