Shabbat Sanctuary Service

Refugee Shabbat

Join us at the Sanctuary Service this week for Refugee Shabbat, a moment for our members to turn outward and dedicate a shabbat experience to the millions of refugees around the world fleeing persecution and violence. For many of us, it will also be an opportunity to reflect on the past refugee experiences within our own families.

Elise Herzig, Executive Director of JIAS (Jewish Immigrant Aid Services), will speak from the bimah. JIAS is a settlement agency that been serving newcomers and refugees for over 100 years. Everyone is welcome to join us for Services and for the Congregational Kiddush following.

Our Shabbat Service offers the energy and inspiration of a complete spiritual and liturgical Shabbat experience as you sing along with Cantor Chaim Stern and Cantor Sidney Ezer. Rabbi Steven Wernick and Rabbi Fryer Bodzin offer insights into our Torah reading, expertly chanted by ritual director Lorne Hanick.
