You had a baby!

At Beth Tzedec, we’re here to walk with you through these first sacred moments and beyond. From baby namings and welcoming rituals to guidance, learning, and community, we help you celebrate your child and begin the journey of raising a Jewish family with intention and joy.

Whether you’re looking for tradition, meaning, connection, or all three, we offer support that meets you where you are. Together, we’ll help you mark milestones, build Jewish memories, and give your child a strong, loving foundation for a Jewish life.

If you have questions, our Spiritual Leadership Team (SLT) will be very happy to aid you.

A girl’s Hebrew name is traditionally given during a Torah reading—Monday, Thursday, Shabbat morning, or Shabbat afternoon—often within the first month after birth.

Parents are called up to the Torah to recite an Aliyah (Blessings over the reading) and the Spiritual Leader will announce the name in Hebrew and English, offering additional blessings.

Our SLT can help with picking a Hebrew name that your child can wear with pride.

We’re here to help make this milestone special for you and your family. To arrange a baby naming, please contact our office at least three days before the service.

A celebratory meal traditionally follows the baby naming.
